ABOUT
SOICHIRO CHIBA
Orchestrator, Composer, Arranger, Pianist
Tokyo-based composer and orchestrator — I write music for the stories that stay with you.
Where It All Began
SHAPED BY MUSIC. DRIVEN BY STORIES. MADE TO MOVE.
I studied piano and composition at Toho Gakuen College of Music, where I built my foundation in both performance and compositional theory. Working as a score engraver at Hotta Gakufu Co., Ltd. taught me to read music the way performers do — with an eye for what actually works on the page and in the room. Later, as a sound creator at GungHo Online Entertainment, I learned how music functions differently in an interactive context, and how to write for a world where the listener is also a player.
Today, I bring all of that experience to every project I take on. My orchestrations are built to be performed — precise, idiomatic, and shaped around the real capabilities of live instruments. I work primarily in Dorico, and am also proficient in Finale and Sibelius, so I can deliver in whatever format your workflow requires.
If you’re looking for an orchestrator who listens as carefully as I write — I’d love to hear about your project.
The Approach
Every scene deserves music
that Doesn't merely accompany
— but transforms.
ON MUSIC FOR FILM AND GAMES
Every project begins with a close reading of the story
— the arc of the scene, the intention behind it, the emotional world that needs to be built. From there, the orchestration takes shape: each instrument chosen not for its own sake, but for what it adds to the whole. The result is music that serves the work completely — dramatic where it needs to be, restrained where silence speaks louder, and always written so that performers can bring it fully to life.
